November 2002 – February 2004
Nicola joined Marketing Birmingham as Head of Communications and after eight months in the post asked to share responsibility for the CEO role.
Achievements and highlights
- As Head of Communications Nicola led the team to develop the Birmingham place brand
- 1000 local school children took part unveiling the new brand at Villa Park and national TV crews flew over the city to capture the occasion and see a range of large scale advertising incorporating the new brand. The brand include a range of stunning signature images, all incorporating the new ‘b’ brand and shot around the city.
Marketing Birmingham was an internationally renowned place-marketing organisation of 100 staff with a turnover of £7m. I managed the launch of the Championing Birmingham corporate citizenship scheme to engage the private sector raising £650k pa. This was an idea taken from a similar scheme in Gothenberg.
